QTP (Quick Test Professional) is a test automation framework used for regression and functional testing for desktop applications as well as web based applications, originally released in 2001 and now known as UFT (Unified Functional Testing) owned by Micro Focus. Test automation or automation testing is the use of softwares with automated scripts for running software and application tests, and comparing the actual results with the expected results to detect errors or defects.
